El Alfabeto
Learn the Alphabet and Letter Sounds in Spanish
This is designed to introduce vocabulary and culture as well as other aspects of the Spanish language through authentic videos and stories, then begin targeted practice of words, sentences, and phrases. Language acquisition will occur with repeated, everyday exposure and practice.
The work below is divided into sections. Have children complete everything in the section once a day for a week or longer (depending on age, ability, and how fast they learn). Allow the child to move on to the next section when they show understanding and proficiency. Children can also return to previous sections for review.
Optional Explanation of the Alphabet
Read or have a parent read this explanation of the Spanish Alphabet. The Spanish Alphabet is similar to the English Alphabet with some characters added and some missing. The pronunciations are different as well.
Section 1
- El Alfabeto: Watch this video to introduce you to the alphabet in Spanish.
- Listen and Repeat: Listen to the alphabet and repeat the letters as you hear them.
- Connect the Dots: Practice the alphabet by clicking them in order.
**Print this animal alphabet page. Click the bright green download button. Use google translate to look up the names of the animals and write them under each letter.
Section 2
- El Alfabeto: Listen to this alphabet song and practice the alphabet
- The alphabet with words: Click the letter, practice the letter sound and word.
- The alphabet in order: Click the letter bubbles in order from a to z.
- Spanish Letter Names Listening Practice: Listen to the letter name and click the correct letter.
**Print these Spanish alphabet cards. Cut out and practice.
Section 3
- ABC Rock & Roll: Listen to this alphabet rock and roll song and practice the alphabet.
- Spanish Letter Names Listening Practice: Listen to the letter name and click the correct letter.
- El abecedario gráfico: Click on the letter of the alphabet, then click each picture that begins with that letter to hear the words in Spanish.
Section 4
- Jugando con burbujas: Practice capital and lowercase letters (minúsculas y mayúsculas) by listening to the letter name and selecting the correct bubble.
**Print these practice pages. Write the words under the pictures.
Section 5
- Spelling Animal Names: Finish spelling the animal name by clicking the missing letters.
