This packet of READING FLUENCY PASSAGES (SILENT E) includes 24 simple stories that will help build fluency, comprehension, and confidence in young readers. These FUN and ENGAGING No-prep printables give little readers fluency practice with CVCE and CCVCE words.

This product is also available at my TPT Store.

This packet contains a collection of passages that focus on a long vowel. The long vowels are used in a repetitive manner. Each original passage is somewhat whimsical in nature to help hold the child’s attention. These can be used independently, in small groups, morning work, homework, and guided reading groups. Children a color a star each time they read. Students can utilize early phonics skills, decoding skills and knowledge of sight words to practice each story. After reading the passage three times, children find and color the long vowel words, write the words, and draw a picture of the story for comprehension.

***For struggling readers, I have found that reading the passage aloud to the child or doing a paired reading before having the child read independently results in a more successful reading.

🙂 Happy Teaching!

“This was a great addition to my silent e unit. It provides reading practice that is not too overwhelming for students with a reading disability. The fact that they have to draw a picture to match the story shows me whether or not they comprehended what they read.” -Judi S
“This is exactly what I was looking for!! Passages that my students could actually use to apply the phonics skills they were learning.” -Marci S
